K2 Extra fields not working after save or activity

I have an extensive list of extra fields added to my K2 items and they are selectable from the front page by users. When I open the editor to add an items they show perfectly if I choose the required categories but the moment I save or edit the form in any way the fields collapse in such a way that they are not editable or properly visible. It seems as if the form items collapse to the left.
